Priscilla is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who has experience working with children of all ages but especially loves working with the little ones (ages 0-5) and their caregivers. She is passionate about helping families find ease and joy in the ups and downs of their life!

Priscilla often finds that transitioning into Preschool can be a challenge for both children and their families. Meeting new classmates, adjusting to new schedules, and separating from caregivers require children to expand beyond their comfort zone and adapt to their new environment. When working with families, Priscilla uses reflection, curiosity, and play as avenues to strengthen parent-child connections and support caregivers to gain new insights about their children and how to manage the challenging moments that arise.

In order to assist our families with achieving a stress-free transition, Priscilla has provided a list of helpful tips and resources for caregivers.

  1. Read with your child:

“The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn

  1. Join them in getting excited for the first day:

Pick out a backpack, outfit, etc.

Help them wonder about what toys there may be.

Go look at the school with your child if you can.

  1. Provide simple and fun choices.

Which shirt do you want to wear?

What song should we listen to/sing on the way to school?

Should we walk like elephants or fly like birds to the classroom door?

  1. Take a big breath! This is a transition to a new place with new people and a new routine for BOTH of you.
