In the meantime, please take a look below to discover a few of the many reasons why teletherapy has become an incredibly popular choice for therapy appointments.
It is more convenient:
You can receive therapy for your child at a time that is most convenient for you, rather than arranging your schedule around bringing your child and waiting in the clinic during their appointment
You don’t have to travel:
Seeing a therapist online eliminates the need to travel to and from a clinic that may be far from you – and you don’t have to deal with traffic!
Increases consistency and timeliness:
With teletherapy, you don’t have to worry about traffic jams, minor ailments, bad weather, or busy schedules causing you to be late to or miss a session – simply click and begin!
Children are more comfortable at home:
Children may be more willing to open up when they can talk to a therapist from the comfort of their own home, rather than in an unfamiliar office. Children have the ability to create their own “safe space” at home for their session, and they may choose to bring a pet to session or incorporate their own belongings that bring them a sense of comfort and security.
Technology is engaging for kids:
Kids love technology and teletherapy allows them to make progress towards their goals in a way that is highly engaging. New research indicates that children attend better through multimedia online formats. Teletherapists utilize fun and engaging activities that are perfect for capturing the attention of children and then directing it towards activities that produce successful and motivating experiences.
It is effective:
Research has shown that the quality of teletherapy is on par with face-to-face therapy. In fact, in-home sessions can be especially effective since therapists can help clients work through challenging behaviors in the child’s natural environment (at “the scene of the crime”), making it easier to practice new behaviors and coping skills.
Increased parent/caregiver involvement:
Parent involvement within therapy sessions can have a positive impact on the parent-child relationship. This not only results in happier children but also empowered parents. Being able to move seamlessly in and out of a session with your child from the comfort of your own home rather than sitting in a waiting room is a game-changer for parents/caregivers.
